On the heels of Thursday night’s double sweep in the NBA 2K League The Turn playoffs, a pair of longshots duplicated the feat Friday night — the final night of remote play — to complete the quarterfinal field.
Cavs Legion GC and Hornets Venom GT, both of whom finished group play at just 3-3, made quick work of their opponents, with the Cavs sweeping Bucks Gaming 62-55 and 78-64 before the Hornets took care of T-Wolves Gaming 82-77 and 78-71.
The Cavs will next face Pacers Gaming while the Hornets draw Nets GC, who have yet to lose a match the entire tournament.
The Turn is one of three tournaments taking place during the NBA 2K League 5v5 season. The Tipoff, The Turn and The Ticket will set the field for the playoffs, scheduled for Aug. 2-5 in Washington. 76ers GC defeated T-Wolves Gaming to claim The Tipoff in June and The Ticket takes place in late July.
Played remotely up through Friday, The Turn will be an in-person event the rest of the way, with the quarterfinals beginning next Wednesday in Washington. The final will be played July 22.
On Friday, the Cavs got 44 points and 19 assists in the two games from Antoine “Antoine” Featherstone, while Yusuf “Yusuf_Scarbz” Abdulla went for 24 points and 26 rebounds in the wins. Mason “JohhnyRed” Bracken paced the Bucks with 37 points on the night.
In the second match of the night, Antoine “Antoinelove” Times dominated both games, posting 31 points and 14 assists in the first game and following that up with 34 and seven. Michael “BearDaBeast” Key led the T-Wolves with a combined 44 points and 25 assists.
