NASCAR driver Chase Elliott is recovering from a three-hour surgery to repair a broken tibia, Hendrick Motorsports general manager Jeff Andrews confirmed Saturday.
There is no timeline for Elliott’s return to action. He will be replaced by Josh Berry in the No. 9 Chevrolet for Sunday’s Cup Series race in Las Vegas.
Elliott, 27, was injured in a snowboarding accident on Friday in Colorado.
The 2020 Cup Series champion underwent the surgery on Friday night.
A five-time NASCAR Cup Series most popular driver, Elliott finished second last Sunday in the Pala Casino 400 at Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, Calif.
