Napheesa Collier scored 25 points and the Minnesota Lynx defeated the Los Angeles Sparks for the second time in six days with a 77-72 road win on Friday night.
Kayla McBride added 16 points as Minnesota (3-7) won for the third time in four games. Nikolina Milic had 10 points off the bench for the Lynx.
Jordin Canada scored 22 points and Dearica Hamby added 14 points and nine rebounds for Los Angeles (5-5). Nneka Ogwumike had just eight points on 2-of-9 shooting.
This marked the second straight game in which the Lynx played the Sparks. Minnesota won 91-86 on Sunday. Los Angeles posted a 79-61 road win over the Dallas Wings on Wednesday between the rematch.
Chiney Ogwumike (foot) returned from a four-game absence and had five points in 13 minutes for the Sparks, who shot 43.3 percent from the field and 9 of 26 from behind the arc.
Minnesota made 50.9 percent overall, but hit only 6 of 19 from 3-point range.
Canada scored four straight Los Angeles baskets over a four-plus-minute span as the Sparks moved within 69-68 with 2:20 left.
Collier’s three-point play gave the Lynx a 74-70 lead with 1:06 remaining.
Nneka Ogwumike’s basket pulled Los Angeles within two with 49.2 seconds left. Dorka Juhasz split two free throws with 33.1 seconds left for Minnesota and McBride made two with 18.0 seconds remaining as the Lnyx closed it out.
Minnesota outscored the Sparks 24-14 in the third quarter to turn a nine-point deficit into a 58-57 lead.
The Lynx opened the quarter with a 14-5 push to knot the score at 48 on Tiffany Mitchell’s driving hoop with 6:16 left.
Rachel Banham’s 3-pointer gave Minnesota a 53-52 edge with 3:58 remaining. Banham knocked down another trey with 25.1 seconds left to give the Lynx the one-point lead entering the final stanza.
Lindsay Allen opened the fourth quarter with a trey and Juhasz added a layup as Minnesota took a 63-57 lead with 8:35 remaining.
Hamby scored 11 points as the Sparks held a 43-34 halftime lead. Collier had 12 in the half for Minnesota.
