Walker Zimmerman is excited to write the next chapter in his decorated MLS career with Toronto FC.

“Toronto FC has such a rich history of success in MLS. When the opportunity came to represent this club and city, it was an easy decision,” the two-time MLS Defender of the Year said. “I can’t wait to compete alongside my new teammates and perform for some of the best fans in the league as we chase trophies together.”

Toronto announced the signing of the 32-year-old free agent and U.S. men’s national team veteran on Friday. He is under contract through the 2027-28 season.

Zimmerman is a five-time MLS Best XI honoree and a four-time All-Star who spent the past six seasons with Nashville SC. He has 29 goals and 12 assists in 341 career appearances with FC Dallas (2013-17), Los Angeles FC (2018-19) and Nashville.

“A player of his stature provides us with quality, experience and a track record of delivering defensive results in MLS,” Toronto general manager Jason Hernandez said.

“Beyond his on-field performances, his leadership, intensity and professionalism will be instrumental in our ongoing efforts to build a winning culture at our club. He has been a difference maker at every place he has played and we are excited to begin this journey together.”

Zimmerman’s team hardware includes Supporters’ Shields with LAFC in 2019 and Dallas in 2016, and U.S. Open Cups with Dallas in 2016 and Nashville in 2025.
