Toronto FC announced the signing Thursday of midfielder Alonso Coello Camarero through 2023 with team options for 2024 and 2025.
The 23-year-old Spaniard made his MLS debut on March 25 and has played in two matches for Toronto with one start.
Both of those appearances were on short-term loan agreements with MLS Next Pro affiliate Toronto FC II.
“Alonso is a talented and smart player, and we are excited to add him to the First Team,” said Toronto head coach and sporting director Bob Bradley. “He was a key player for TFC II in the 2022 MLS NEXT Pro season. This year, he was integrated into the First Team during preseason and played two matches with us, demonstrating his technical quality and ability to find spaces between lines. We are looking forward to his continued development.”
