Toronto FC coach John Herdman and two of his players were suspended for Wednesday’s match at Nashville SC on the heels of a post-match melee with New York City FC.

Goalkeeper Sean Johnson and defender Richie Laryea also received one-match bans for their parts in an on-field altercation with NYCFC on Saturday, Major League Soccer’s Disciplinary Committee announced Wednesday. Laryea is recovering from a hamstring injury and would have sat out anyway.

“The MLS Disciplinary Committee continues to assess the incident and those involved for further discipline and will announce complete findings and sanctions at a later date,” the league said in a statement.

Toronto forward Prince Owusu and NYCFC defender Strahinja Tanasijevic each received a red card for their roles in the skirmish. They also will sit out their respective next matches, with NYCFC (5-5-2, 17 points) set to face the Philadelphia Union (3-3-5, 14 points) on Wednesday and Toronto (6-5-1, 19 points) visiting Nashville (2-4-5, 11 points).
