Toronto FC acquired forward CJ Sapong from Nashville SC and defender Aime Mabika from Inter Miami in separate trades on Tuesday.
Nashville SC secured the services of defender Lukas MacNaughton and up to $200,000 in general allocation money in exchange for Sapong.
Sapong, 34, has been held without a goal or an assist in eight appearances (four starts) this season. He has 88 goals and 35 assists in 350 career MLS matches (271 starts) with Sporting Kansas City, the Philadelphia Union, Chicago Fire and Nashville SC.
“CJ has a long track record of scoring goals in MLS,” coach Bob Bradley said in a statement. “His work rate, mentality, and ability to impose himself on opponents in front of the goal are some of the important qualities we look forward to seeing from him here at TFC.”
Toronto FC acquired Mabika from Inter Miami in exchange for $100,000 in 2024 general allocation money plus an additional $100,000 in conditional GAM if performance-based metrics are met.
Mabika, 24, has totaled one assist in 17 career MLS matches (15 starts) with Inter Miami.
MacNaughton, 28, has yet to record a goal or an assist in 28 career MLS matches (22 starts) with Toronto FC and Nashville SC.
