The Portland Timbers signed goalkeeper Aljaz Ivacic to an extension through 2025 with a club option for the 2026 season.
Ivacic went 11-10-11 with six shutouts last season in 32 matches as Portland’s main goalkeeper. The Slovenian tied for the MLS lead with 112 saves.
“I’m extremely excited that Aljaz has signed a contract extension with the club. He has worked hard to earn his position within the team,” Timbers coach Giovanni Savarese said in Tuesday’s news release. “We expect him to continue to showcase his great abilities this season and are excited to continue to see him grow with us.”
Ivacic, 29, wasn’t in the lineup for either of Portland’s first two matches. David Bingham was in goal for both — a 1-0 win over Sporting Kansas City on Feb. 27 and a 3-2 loss to Los Angeles FC on Saturday.
Overall, Ivacic has appearance in 39 matches (38 starts) since joining the Timbers in 2019.
