Portland Timbers standout forward Dairon Asprilla will be sidelined four to six weeks after undergoing surgery on his right knee, the team announced Thursday.
Asprilla, 30, had an arthroscopic debridement performed in Portland, according to the Timbers.
Asprilla has put together back-to-back 10-goal seasons, leading the club last season and placing second in 2021.
The Colombian had just seven goals in his first six seasons with the Timbers before his breakout 2021 campaign. He has 27 goals and 12 assists in 158 MLS regular-season matches (91 starts) and four goals and four assists in 17 postseason appearances (10 starts).
The Timbers open the regular season on Feb. 25 when they host Sporting Kansas City.
