Toronto FC finalized a deal to acquire Hungarian winger Daniel Salloi from Sporting Kansas City on Thursday.

In exchange, Sporting KC received $300,000 in general allocation money and $700,000 in add-ons. Kansas City also would get a portion of the proceeds if Toronto moves Salloi to another club.

TFC general manager Jason Hernandez said in a statement, “We are very happy to welcome Daniel to Toronto. As a captain and stalwart for SKC for many years, he will bring a welcome combination of MLS experience and impact to our group. We look forward to integrating him into the team and starting our journey together.”

SKC general manager David Lee thanked Salloi in a statement, adding, “This move provides us with additional flexibility, which will help as we continue to build our roster, while also giving Daniel the opportunity to continue his career in MLS as he entered the final year of his contract.

“It is always difficult to part ways with players who have given so much to a club, but we felt this was the right decision for all involved and we wish Daniel nothing but the best in Toronto.”

Salloi, 29, has recorded 54 goals and 32 assists in 242 regular-season matches since joining SKC in 2016. He was an MLS All-Star in 2021 and helped the team win the U.S. Open Cup in 2017.

Salloi had seven goals and four assists in 33 MLS matches (24 starts) last season.

The 2026 MLS regular season begins this weekend with Toronto visiting FC Dallas and Sporting KC visiting the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday night.
