The New England Revolution signed 18-year-old midfielder Jack Panayotou to a homegrown player deal.

Panayotou’s contract announced Tuesday runs through the 2026 MLS season with a club option for 2027.

The Cambridge, Mass., native was named the Revolution’s academy player of the year in 2022.

“I’m incredibly honored to sign a Homegrown Player contract with the New England Revolution,” Panayotou said in a news release. “Having been with the club since I was at the Under-13 level, this is truly a dream come true. …. I am excited to begin my career with my hometown club, continue to develop as a player, and earn my place on this team.”

Panayotou scored the game-winning goal for the Revolution Academy’s Under-19 squad in the 2022 MLS Next Cup championship game. He also assisted on the game-winner in the 89th minute of the 2022 MLS NEXT All-Star Game.

“Jack has made tremendous strides in his development over the last two years and has emerged as one of the top midfielders in his age bracket in the country,” Revs technical director Curt Onalfo said. “… Jack is deserving of this opportunity to take the next step in his journey, and we are excited to continue working with Jack here in New England.”

Panayotou played collegiately at Georgetown, sharing the team lead with seven goals in 19 games as a freshman in 2022.
