The New England Revolution signed goaltender Djordje Petrovic to a three-year extension through the 2025 season.
The deal announced Friday for the 22-year-old Serbian star includes an additional club option for 2026.
Petrovic has posted seven shutouts and allowed just 26 goals in 20 starts this season, earning consideration for both the MLS Newcomer of the Year and Goalkeeper of the Year awards.
“Djordje Petrovic has been a great addition to our team. In his 2022 season with the Revolution, Djordje has made a great impression on both his teammates and the staff,” Revs sporting director and head coach Bruce Arena said in a news release. “We believe he has a great future and will continue to improve as a goalkeeper. Therefore, he is most deserving of this new contract.”
With one game remaining, Petrovic’s seven clean sheets are the most by a Revolution goalkeeper since 2017.
He set a franchise record with four penalty saves this season and ranks second in the league with a 75.47 save percentage.
Petrovic was voted the team MVP by fans and selected as the club’s Players’ Player of the Year by his teammates.
