The New England Revolution acquired defender Dave Romney from Nashville SC on Thursday in exchange for $525,000 in general allocation money.
Per the teams, Nashville SC will receive $250,000 in 2023 and $275,000 in 2024.
Romney, 29, recorded three goals and three assists in 31 appearances (30 starts) last season for Nashville SC. He has totaled seven goals and 13 assists in 171 career appearances with the Los Angeles Galaxy (2015-19) and Nashville SC (2020-22).
“Dave Romney is a reliable and quality defender in our league. He will be a great addition to our roster,” Revolution sporting director and head coach Bruce Arena said. “We look forward to Dave’s arrival in New England this preseason.”
Romney was an ironman during his time with Nashville SC. He was the lone player on the team to play every minute during the 2020 season. He also started 86 of the 87 regular-season matches in which he played over the past three campaigns.
“A 2020 NSC original. An ironman center back,” Nashville SC wrote on Twitter in a message of appreciation.
