Elias Manoel scored the tying goal in the first half and the New York Red Bulls pushed their unbeaten streak to nine matches with a 1-1 tie with host Charlotte FC on Saturday night.

Karol Swiderski’s penalty kick gave Charlotte an early lead as the teams came off an extended layoff.

The Red Bulls (10-4-12, 42 points) are 2-0-7 since a June 8 loss at New England.

Charlotte (10-8-8, 38 points) has a four-match string without a defeat.

Charlotte goalkeeper Kristijan Kahlina made two saves, while Red Bulls goalkeeper Carlos Coronel was credited with three saves.

The Red Bulls, who are enjoying their best stretch since 2021, applied regular pressure, but didn’t convert any of their eight corner kicks. They had 19 total shot attempts.

Swiderski, playing in his second match of the season for Charlotte, converted for his second goal of the season in the 13th minute by firing the penalty kick into the left bottom corner. Kyle Duncan’s foul in the penalty area created the opportunity for Swiderski.

Manoel tied the score in the 37th minute with his sixth goal; he shot from the middle of the box and seemed to catch Kahlina flat-footed.

Dante Vanzeir assisted on the sequence, coming hard down the right side. Noah Eile started the transition with a long pass to Vanzeir, who has nine assists.

Manoel, who had gone a four-match stretch without a goal, now has tallied seven goals and one assist in six career matches vs. Charlotte.

New acquisition Pep Biel, a midfielder, made his Charlotte debut as a substitute in the second half.
