Down 2-0 through 55 minutes, the New York Red Bulls erupted for five second-half goals and a 5-3 comeback win over the visiting New England Revolution on Wednesday in Harrison, N.J.

Emil Forsberg had two goals and an assist, Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting scored two goals and Daniel Edelman had New York’s other tally. Ronald Donkor also had three assists to help the Red Bulls end their five-match winless streak.

The Red Bulls (9-8-6, 33 points) are 8-1-2 at home this season, including an unbeaten 5-0-1 run in their last six regular-season home dates.

Leo Campana scored twice for the Revolution (6-9-7, 25 points), including a goal just five minutes into the match. An own goal from New York defender Kyle Duncan then gave New England a seemingly strong 2-0 lead before the second-half collapse.

The Revolution are 0-5-2 in their last seven matches, and have just one victory (1-5-6) in their last 12 regular-season outings.

The Red Bulls’ attack started to come alive after Duncan’s own goal, and the increased pressure paid off with a goal in the 56th minute. Edelman recorded his first goal since the 2023 season when his shot from outside the box went through a lot of traffic and beat goalkeeper Aljaz Ivacic.

If Edelman was an unlikely scorer, New York’s stars put the club ahead. Choupo-Moting equalized in the 70th minute, set up in the box from a pass from Forsberg.

Only two minutes later, Forsberg followed up his assist with a goal of his own. The midfielder delivered a tremendous left-footed strike from outside the box for the go-ahead marker.

The two stars earned their braces on another pair of quick scores to seal New York’s victory. Choupo-Moting struck again in the 83rd minute for his team-leading 13th goal, and Forsberg converted a penalty kick in the 88th minute.

Campana collected his own brace with a goal three minutes into second-half stoppage time.
