The San Jose Earthquakes acquired goalkeeper Daniel from Brazil’s Internacional on a permanent transfer.
Terms of the deal announced Saturday were not disclosed, but the 28-year-old Brazilian is signed through the 2024 season with a club option for 2025.
Daniel recorded 37 shutouts and allowed just 74 goals in 83 matches with Internacional from 2017-22.
“Daniel comes to San Jose with an impressive pedigree from a top league and club in South America,” Earthquakes general manager Chris Leitch said. “… We believe his quality will add a different level of competition to the goalkeeper position.”
