Tom Barlow scored on a rebound off the post in the 52nd minute and the visiting New York Red Bulls continued their revival with a 1-0 victory over Inter Miami on Wednesday at Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Carlos Coronel made one save, stopping a penalty kick in the first half, as the Red Bulls (4-5-7, 19 points) improved to 3-1-1 over their last five games after an 1-4-6 start.

New York’s first road victory of the season (1-4-4) came after a near one-hour weather delay at the outset.

The Red Bulls’ reversal of fortune over the past five MLS games has come after Troy Lesesne took over as head coach from Gerhard Struber, who parted ways with the team on May 8.

Inter Miami (5-10-0, 15 points) saw their losing streak extend to four games following a three-game winning streak. The club was shut out for the seventh time this season and the second game in a row, as Miami lost 1-0 to host CF Montreal on Saturday.

Goalkeeper Drake Callender made eight saves for the Herons, who dropped to 4-4-0 at home while remaining in last place in the Eastern Conference.

The Red Bulls’ Luquinhas weaved through traffic from near midfield early in the first half, with his shot from the penalty area rebounding off the right post. Barlow, who entered the game at halftime, pounced on the deflection and scored past Callender for his second goal of the season.

Inter Miami forwards Leonardo Campana and Josef Martinez each had prime first-half scoring chances but have now scored just two combined goals over the past seven games, including U.S. Open Cup play.

Poised to take an early lead, Inter Miami saw Campana’s ninth-minute penalty kick saved on a dive by Coronel.

Martinez blew a chance at a point-blank attempt in the 22nd minute because of a heavy right-foot touch off a centering pass from Nicolas Stefanelli.

Callender made consecutive saves for Inter Miami in less than a minute span late in the first half on shots by the Red Bulls’ John Tolkin and Andres Reyes.

New York forward Cameron Harper was sent off in the fifth minute of second-half stoppage time after receiving a second yellow card.
