The Houston Dynamo acquired forward Gabriel Segal from New York City FC on Friday for a third-round pick in the 2025 MLS SuperDraft.
NYCFC will also retain a sell-on percentage from future transfers involving Segal.
Segal, 22, had two goals in 10 matches (four starts) with NYCFC last season. Both goals tied the score in stoppage time.
“We would like to thank Gabe for all his contributions to the club. He was a hardworking and popular member of the squad who contributed with some important goals in 2023,” NYCFC sporting director David Lee said in a news release. “This move will provide Gabe with more opportunity for minutes as he is beginning his professional career, and we wish him all the best in Houston.”
NYCFC loaned Segal to Hapoel Tel Aviv FC in September and he was supposed to remain there until June. But Segal returned to NYCFC in November after the Israeli league was suspended because of conflict in the region.
“While it’s been great to be back with the squad for the past few months, I am excited for this new chapter of my career and the chance to play in Houston,” Segal said. “I want to thank everybody at New York City for giving me the opportunity to grow as a player and to the amazing fans for their continuous support. My time at the club will always be something I’m grateful for. I wish all my teammates the best this season.”
