New York City FC acquired Agustin Ojeda, a 19-year-old forward from Argentina’s Racing Club, through 2028 with an option for 2029, the MLS club announced Friday.

Ojeda joins NYCFC under Major League Soccer’s U22 initiative. He recorded three goals and two assists in 24 appearances with Racing, including one goal in five appearances in the Copa Libertadores.

“I am excited to be joining one of the best clubs in MLS that is known for competing for championships, while also focused on developing young players,” Ojeda said in a news release. “I can’t wait to meet the coaching staff and my new teammates. I’m looking forward to bringing the experience I have gained in Argentina to add to this talented squad.

“I will continue to work hard every day to improve and develop into the player I know I can become,” he continued. “New York is one of the greatest cities in the world, and I can’t wait to represent the club and city with honor. I look forward to playing in front of New York’s passionate fans and help this team compete for trophies.”

A native of Rosario, Argentina, Ojeda has represented his home country at the U-15, U-17 and U-20 levels.

“Agustin is an exciting, dynamic winger with a lot of pace and attributes that we believe will translate to MLS,” NYCFC sporting director David Lee said in the release. “He’s a very talented player with high potential and he’ll add more variety and competition to our front line, being able to play on either the right or left side.

“Having gained meaningful senior experience in Argentina, both domestically and internationally in the Copa Libertadores, we believe Agustin adds a different profile to the current wingers we have on our team, and we’re excited for him to join the club.”
