Second-half substitutes Dejan Joveljic and Diego Fagundez scored seven minutes apart for the LA Galaxy, but Minnesota United responded with a late goal for a 2-2 draw on Wednesday night in Saint Paul, Minn.

Kervin Arriaga scored on a header in the 80th minute for his second goal of the season for Minnesota. He has now scored in back-to-back matches. Arriaga’s goal on Wednesday came off Joseph Rosales’ corner kick.

Bongokuhle Hlongwane scored in the first half for Minnesota United (6-2-3, 21 points).

Goalkeeper John McCarthy made five saves for the Galaxy (5-2-6, 21 points). Minnesota counterpart Dayne St. Clair stopped three shots.

Joveljic’s team-leading seventh goal of the year was primarily assisted by Gabriel Pec in the 61st minute.

Then it was Fagundez’s turn, with Riqui Puig picking up his second assist of the night. Fagundez, who entered the match after an injury to Joseph Paintsil, has two goals this season.

Hlongwane scored in the 30th minute for his third goal of the season. The scoring sequence came out of a corner kick.

The ball bounced outside the box, with Hlongwane gaining position and launching a quick shot. The ball appeared to hit the crossbar, with the Galaxy playing on as if there was no goal, and initially, there was no signal that it was a goal.

McCarthy grabbed the ball and sent it out of the box. A video review determined the ball bounced down and had crossed the goal line.

Robin Lod was credited with an assist, giving him a team-leading eight assists in 10 matches this year.

Hlongwane had gone six matches in a row without a goal or an assist after scoring one goal in back-to-back matches.

The Galaxy are 1-2-2 in their past five road matches, while Minnesota is now riding a four-match unbeaten streak overall (3-0-1).
