The Chicago Fire bolstered their backline Monday, signing French defender Arnaud Souquet from Ligue 1 side Montpellier HSC on a free transfer.
Souquet, 30, joins through the 2025 MLS season and is a welcome addition after Chicago didn’t retain Boris Sekulic and Jhon Espinoza left for FC Lugano in Switzerland.
In 149 games for Montpellier, LOSC Lille and OGC Nice, Souquet collected five goals and 11 assists. He’s played in nearly 320 professional matches after making his pro debut in 2009.
A former French youth international, Souquet developed through Lille’s academy.
