MLS News: Bracket, schedule announced for inaugural Leagues Cup

The bracket and the schedule for the inaugural 2023 Leagues Cup featuring all 47 clubs from MLS and Liga MX were announced on Thursday.

The World Cup-stye Concacaf competition runs from July 21 through Aug. 19.

The group stage is from July 21-31, followed by the Round of 32 (Aug. 2-4), Round of 16 (Aug. 6-8), quarterfinals (Aug. 11-12), semifinals (Aug. 15), third-place game (Aug. 19) and final (Aug. 19).

The reigning 2022 champs from MLS (Los Angeles FC) and Mexico’s Liga MX (Pachuca) automatically qualified for the Round of 32.

The remaining teams are divided into 15 groups in four regions (West, Central, South and East) based on their 2022 performance and geographic location. All teams will play two group-stage matches at MLS venues.

Regional venues:
–West: BMO Stadium (Los Angeles), Dignity Health Sports Park (Carson, Calif.), America First Field (Salt Lake City) and PayPal Park (San Jose, Calif.)
–Central: SeatGeek Stadium (Bridgeview, Ill.), Toyota Stadium (Frisco, Texas), DICK’S Sporting Goods Park (Commerce City, Colo.) and Shell Energy Stadium (Houston)
–South: Q2 Stadium (Austin, Texas), Toyota Stadium (Frisco, Texas) and Exploria Stadium (Orlando, Fla.)
–East: Red Bull Arena (Harrison, N.J.), Subaru Park (Chester, Pa.) and Audi Field (Washington, D.C.)
