Bernard Kamungo scored twice in the first half before exiting with an apparent injury as FC Dallas clinched seventh place in the Western Conference with a 4-1 rout of the LA Galaxy on Saturday night in Carson, Calif.

Kamungo scored in the fourth and 30th minutes to help Dallas (11-10-13, 46 points) qualify for the playoffs for the 20th time in team history.

Dallas ended the regular season on a nine-match unbeaten streak (2-0-7) and will open the playoffs against the second-seeded Seattle Sounders.

Kamungo opened the scoring by blasting a left-footed shot from the center of the box to the bottom left corner after getting a pass from Nkosi Tafari. He gave Dallas a 3-1 lead by blasting a header from close range while falling into the net after getting a feed from Jesus Ferreira.

It was the first career two-goal match for Kamungo, who netted his fifth and sixth goals of the season before exiting. He left in the 43rd minute after he collided with Los Angeles midfielder Edwin Cerrillo as both players pursued the ball.

Kamungo was attended to for a few minutes before departing. He was seen after the match ended walking comfortably on the field and celebrating with teammates.

Ewa Twumasi scored his first career goal in the 13th minute and Jader Obrian scored two minutes into first-half stoppage time after replacing Kamungo.

Raheem Edwards scored for the Galaxy (8-14-12, 36 points), who finished 13th in the Western Conference and missed the playoffs for the fifth time in seven seasons.

Dallas goalkeeper Maarten Paes made four saves.

Los Angeles goalie Novak Micovic allowed four goals on six shots in his second career MLS match.

After Kamungo made it 1-0, Twumasi slid home a rebound after Ferreria’s shot was stopped. Edwards made it a one-goal match in the 24th when he blasted a left-footed shot from about 6 yards out into the bottom left corner of the net before Kamungo’s second goal created some separation.
