Austin FC announced a new multi-year contract Tuesday with veteran defender Julio Cascante.
The deal includes three guaranteed years through the end of the 2025 season plus an option for 2026.
Cascante, 29, has five goals and six assists in 67 MLS matches since joining Austin for the club’s inaugural 2021 season.
“I’m very happy to commit to Austin FC for the next few seasons,” Cascante said. “This Club and community have made me and my family feel at home since the beginning, and I’m excited to stay here and be part of the team as we continue to work toward our goal of lifting trophies.”
Cascante played three seasons with the Portland Timbers (2018-20) before joining Austin. The Costa Rica native’s career totals include six goals and eight assists in 112 games (97 starts).
“Julio has been a consistent and solid presence on our backline since our first match back in 2021, and is a player with quality both in and out of possession,” said Austin head coach Josh Wolff. “We’re thrilled that he’s decided to sign a new contract with Austin FC and look forward to more great years together.”
