The Colorado Rapids and Portland Timbers played a scoreless second half on Wednesday to complete a 0-0 draw in a match that was postponed at halftime last week in Commerce City, Colo.

The teams initially kicked off on July 4 after a rain delay that lasted nearly two hours. But just minutes after a scoreless first half, another deluge fell, causing officials to postpone the match after an 80-minute delay.

Wednesday’s match restarted in the 46th minute with the same players on the field and with each team having the same substitutes available when last week’s match was postponed.

Colorado (3-10-9, 18 points) maintained possession for 56.6 percent of the match. Despite having 20 crosses and six corner kicks, the Rapids put just one of their 12 shots on target.

The Timbers (5-9-8, 23 points) put just two of their nine shots on net. Portland had just three corner kicks and 11 crosses.

Colorado goalkeeper William Yarbrough made two saves to record his sixth shutout of the season and 32nd of his career.

Timbers goalkeeper David Bingham needed to make just one stop to collect his fourth clean sheet of the season and 50th of his career.

The Rapids’ Cole Bassett had two late chances to break the scoreless tie, but his header in the 79th minute missed wide left before another header went over the crossbar in the first minute of second-half stoppage time.

Colorado, which is in last place in the Western Conference, is 1-0-1 in its past two matches after going 0-7-2 in its previous nine league matches. The Rapids also lost 1-0 to Real Salt Lake in the U.S. Open Cup during that stretch.

Portland, which is in 12th in the Western Conference, has gone 0-2-3 since a 1-0 win over FC Dallas on June 11.

The Rapids host Houston Dynamo FC on Saturday, while Portland welcomes the Columbus Crew that day.
