Colorado slugger C.J. Cron exited the Rockies’ Friday game against the Arizona Diamondbacks after being hit on his left wrist by a pitch in the top of the fifth inning in Phoenix.

The team announced later in the game that X-rays for broken bones were negative, and Cron was diagnosed with a wrist contusion.

In the top of the sixth, Rockies shortstop Jose Iglesias departed due to dizziness after colliding with Arizona catcher Jose Herrera on a play at the plate. Manager Bud Black said Iglesias had been due for a day off on Saturday, so he won’t be in the starting lineup for the matinee.

Cron was batting with the bases loaded and was down 0-2 in the count when Diamondbacks right-hander Zac Gallen plunked him with a 94 mph fastball.

Cron immediately jumped in the air and grabbed the hand, then dropped down to one knee in distress. Black and a team trainer came out to attend to him, and Cron soon departed and Connor Joe came in to pinch-run.

The hit-by-pitch tied the score at 4 and was Cron’s team-best 66th RBI of the campaign. He also leads the Rockies with 20 homers and is batting .295.

Joe remained in the contest at first base.

Cron is in his ninth major league season and has been with five teams. He is in his second season with the Rockies. He began the night with a .265 career batting average to go with 166 home runs and 530 RBIs.

Iglesias was safe on the play when he got hurt at the plate, and he appeared woozy while being treated in the dugout. Herrera had his knee examined and remained in the game.

Garrett Hampson replaced Iglesias at shortstop.

Iglesias, who is in his 11th season, is in his first season with the Rockies, his fifth major league team. He began the night with a career .278 batting average with 46 home runs, 342 RBIs. He went 2-for-3 with a double to raise his season batting average to .297.
