Ramon Urias hit a three-run home run, right-hander Jordan Lyles pitched 5 2/3 innings and the Baltimore Orioles defeated the visiting Toronto Blue Jays 7-4 Monday night.
Anthony Santander, Ryan Mountcastle and Austin Hays added solo home runs for the Orioles in the opener of a three-game series.
Cavan Biggio and Matt Chapman each hit solo homers for the Blue Jays.
Toronto’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr. singled in the fifth to extend his hitting streak to 19 games.
Lyles (9-8) allowed two runs, eight hits and two walks with one strikeout in 5 2/3 innings.
Toronto left-hander Yusei Kikuchi (4-6) allowed five runs, six hits and three walks while striking out four in five-plus innings.
Adley Rutschman and Santander walked with one out in the bottom of the first. Mountcastle’s grounder forced Santander at second base and Urias hit his 12th home run of the season.
Biggio led off the third with his third homer of the season.
Santander hit his 20th homer this season to match his career best with two out in the bottom of the third and Mountcastle followed with his 15th homer of the season to give the Orioles a 5-1 lead.
Chapman hit his 22nd homer of the season with one out in the sixth.
Cionel Perez replaced Lyles after Danny Jansen walked with two out in the sixth and struck out Biggio.
Trent Thornton replaced Kikuchi after a leadoff walk to Mountcastle in the bottom of the sixth. After Urias grounded into a double play, Hays hit his 13th homer of the season.
Dillon Tate, who pitched a perfect top of the seventh with two strikeouts, allowed one-out singles to Bo Bichette and Chapman in the eighth and was replaced by Joey Krehbiel. Raimel Tapia hit an RBI single and Jansen hit a sacrifice fly. After Biggio walked, Felix Bautista replaced Krehbiel to finish the inning.
Trevor Richards walked Rutschman to open the bottom of the eighth. Santander singled and Mountcastle added an RBI single.
Bautista overcame an error and a single to start the ninth with a strikeout and a double-play grounder to earn his fifth save.
Baltimore recalled right-hander Louis Head from Triple-A Norfolk Monday and optioned right-hander Beau Sulser to Norfolk.
