Zac Gallen tossed six scoreless innings to lead the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks to a 4-1 victory over the Boston Red Sox on Saturday.
Gallen (10-6) limited Boston to two hits, struck out nine and walked four. Boston’s only hits against Gallen were singles by Connor Wong and Rafael Devers.
The Diamondbacks have won five games in a row and 11 of their last 14.
The loss dropped Boston’s home record to 29-34 this season. The Red Sox have lost their last three home games, and are 2-6 in their last eight games at Fenway Park.
The Diamondbacks broke a scoreless tie when Eugenio Suarez hit a two-run double with two outs in the fourth that drove in Joc Pederson and Josh Bell to give the Diamondbacks a 2-0 lead. Pederson doubled in the fourth before Bell reached on a walk.
Both runs were charged to Boston starter Kutter Crawford (8-11), who gave up two runs on three hits in five innings. He walked two and struck out three.
Suarez had three hits — including a grand slam — and drove in five runs during Arizona’s 12-2 victory over Boston on Friday night.
Arizona added to its 2-0 lead in the seventh. The Diamondbacks led 3-0 after Jake McCarthy drew a bases-loaded walk that forced in Geraldo Perdomo, and Arizona went up 4-0 when Luis Guillorme scored from third on Brennan Bernardino’s wild pitch. Arizona drew four walks in the inning.
Boston scored its only run in the ninth, when Rob Refsnyder led off with a single and scored on Masataka Yoshida’s double.
The Red Sox didn’t collect a hit against Gallen until Wong’s one-out single in the fifth. Arizona pitching recorded 13 strikeouts.
The Diamondbacks can complete the three-game sweep with a victory Sunday.
