MLB News: Yankees OF Aaron Judge leaves game early with hip issue

New York Yankees slugger Aaron Judge exited Thursday’s 4-2 win over the Texas Rangers in Arlington, Texas, after the fourth inning with right hip discomfort.

“We’ll kind of reassess him (Friday) and see how the hip is doing,” Yankees manager Aaron Boone said.

Judge appeared to grimace with some discomfort after striking out in his second at-bat in the second inning and was replaced by Oswaldo Cabrera in right field two innings later.

“Just a little grab in the hip area, after that headfirst dive the other night, just kind of the whole right side has been a little locked up,” Judge said afterward.
“They kind of thought it would be best just to kind of shut it down and see how I feel after a couple days.”

On Wednesday, Judge stayed in the game after appearing to land awkwardly on his right hand trying to steal third during the second inning. After his awkward headfirst slide, Judge got checked out by a trainer and continued playing.

After hitting an American League-record 62 homers last season to break the record held for 61 years by Roger Maris, Judge is hitting .261 with six homers and 14 RBI in 26 games this season.
