The New York Yankees activated third baseman Amed Rosario off the injured list Tuesday after he missed 10 days with a shoulder sprain.
The club cleared a roster spot during Monday’s off day when catcher J.C. Escarra was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Rosario, 29, was injured while playing in his fourth game for the Yankees. He is batting .277 with five home runs and 19 RBIs in 50 combined games with the Washington Nationals and Yankees this season.
The Yankees acquired Rosario from the Nationals in a trade on July 26.
In a separate move Tuesday, New York placed left-handed reliever Brent Headrick on the 15-day IL with a left forearm contusion. The move is retroactive to Saturday.
Headrick, 27, is in his first season with the Yankees after appearing in 15 games for the Minnesota Twins across 2023-24. In 17 games in pinstripes, Headrick has amassed a 3.13 ERA with 30 strikeouts and seven walks over 23 innings, without a decision or a save.
