The Chicago White Sox strengthened their bullpen Thursday by agreeing to a one-year, $1.8 million contract with left-handed reliever Tim Hill.
Hill, 33, posted a 1-4 record with a career-worst 5.48 ERA in 48 relief appearances with the San Diego Padres last season.
He owns a 16-14 mark with four saves and a 4.16 ERA in 320 career relief appearances with the Kansas City Royals (2018-19) and Padres (2020-23).
Also on Thursday, the White Sox designated right-hander Declan Cronin for assignment.
Cronin, 26, notched a 3-0 record with two saves and a 3.83 ERA in 47 relief appearances with Triple-A Charlotte last season. He also posted a 0-1 record with a 9.00 ERA in nine relief appearances with the White Sox in 2023.
