White Sox left fielder Andrew Benintendi, activated from the 10-day injured list on Wednesday, appeared as a sub in Chicago’s 2-1, 10-inning loss to the host Seattle Mariners.
After striking out as a pinch hitter to end the top of the 10th inning, Benintendi played the field in the bottom of the inning as the Mariners scored the winning run.
Benintendi exited Chicago’s 4-3 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on June 1 due to left Achilles tendinitis. He landed on the IL the next day.
White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said he hoped Benintendi would be good to start on Thursday in the finale of the four-game series.
Corey Julks started in left field on Wednesday.
In 52 games this season, Benintendi, 29, is hitting just .194 with four home runs and 18 RBIs.
Chicago also activated right-hander Steven Wilson from the 15-day injured list on Wednesday while designating left-hander Tim Hill for assignment.
