Minnesota Twins All-Star shortstop Carlos Correa departed Sunday’s game against the Houston Astros after being hit on the right hand by a pitch from Spencer Arrighetti.

X-rays taken during the game were negative and didn’t reveal any fractures. The Twins said Correa had a right finger contusion.

Correa was hit by the pitch in the bottom of the first inning. Kyle Farmer entered and took over at second base with Willi Castro moving to shortstop.

After Minnesota’s 3-2 home victory, Correa vowed to play in Monday’s road game against the Chicago White Sox.

It was the second time in less than two weeks that Correa had to exit a game after being hit by a pitch.

He was struck on the right wrist by Bryce Jarvis of the Arizona Diamondbacks on June 27. Medical tests at that time ruled out any serious injuries and Correa was in the lineup the next day.

Correa was named to the All-Star team for the third time in his career later Sunday. He is batting .305 with 11 homers and 45 RBIs in 71 games this season.

Correa also was an All-Star for the Astros in 2017 and 2021.
