Cristopher Sanchez pitched six solid innings, Trea Turner hit two home runs and the visiting Philadelphia Phillies defeated the Toronto Blue Jays 8-3 on Tuesday.

Turner had three hits and three RBIs, Bryce Harper also homered and Alec Bohm collected four hits for the Phillies, who ended a four-game losing streak by taking the opener of a three-game series.

Addison Barger homered for the fourth straight game, a two-run blast, and Davis Schneider added a solo shot for the Blue Jays, who had their five-game winning streak end.

Philadelphia scored six runs in the first against Bowden Francis (2-7).

Bryson Stott led off with a four-pitch walk, and Turner went deep to right-center on an elevated fastball.

Harper, who had missed the five previous games with a bruised right elbow, homered to right-center on a splitter. With one out, Bohm singled off the right field wall, Nick Castellanos was hit by a pitch and Max Kepler struck an RBI single. J.T. Realmuto singled, and Stott stroked a two-out, two-run single.

Harper opened the second with a walk, took second on Bohm’s one-out single and scored after he tagged up on Castellanos’ fly to right and continued home on Barger’s throwing error.

Eric Lauer then replaced Francis, who allowed seven runs (six earned), seven hits and two walks while striking out two in 1 2/3 innings.

Schneider led off the home fifth with a homer to right off a slider from Sanchez (5-1). Toronto left the bases loaded in the inning.

Joe Ross tossed a perfect seventh after replacing Sanchez, who yielded one run, four hits and four walks with four strikeouts.

Turner homered against Erik Swanson in the eighth.

Alejandro Kirk walked and Barger homered to right against Max Lazar in the bottom of the inning.

Philadelphia’s Carlos Hernandez pitched a perfect ninth.

Toronto’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr. walked in the third inning to extend his on-base streak to 33 games. He ended the game 0-for-3.

The Blue Jays activated second baseman Andres Gimenez (quadriceps) and catcher Tyler Heineman (concussion) from the injured list. Infielder Michael Stefanic and catcher Ali Sanchez were designated for assignment.

Gimenez started and went 0-for-3 with a walk.
