Justyn-Henry Malloy hit a solo home run with a two-run double as the host Detroit Tigers snapped the Washington Nationals’ five-game winning streak with a 7-2 victory Thursday afternoon.

Mark Canha supplied two hits and two RBIs, while Ryan Kreidler added two hits and scored twice. Malloy’s two-run double capped a five-run seventh.

Detroit starter Casey Mize gave up one run and four hits over six innings.

Joey Meneses doubled twice and scored two runs and Ildemaro Vargas hit two sacrifice flies for the Nationals.

Washington starter Patrick Corbin gave up one run and four hits in 5 1/3 innings.
Nationals outfielder Lane Thomas was ejected in the sixth inning for arguing balls and strikes.

Detroit’s first two batters in the second inning reached base but Corbin escaped that jam with the aid of a double play.

Washington’s CJ Abrams and Thomas had two-out singles in the third to put runners on the corners. Mize then retired Jesse Winker on a ground ball.

Detroit took the lead in the bottom of the third. Kreidler reached on a bunt single and moved to second on Andy Ibanez’s one-out single. Canha’s single scored Kreidler.
Gio Urshela drew a two-out walk to load the bases but Corbin struck out Malloy to prevent further damage.

The Nats tied the score in the fourth. Meneses walked, moved to third on a Garcia single and scored on Vargas’ sacrifice fly.

Detroit regained the lead in the sixth inning against Derek Law (3-2) when Malloy blasted his second career homer with two out.

Meneses scored again for the Nationals in the seventh with Shelby Miller (4-4) on the mound. He doubled, advanced on a long fly ball and scored for a 2-2 tie on Vargas’ second sacrifice fly.

Kreidler and Matt Vierling hit one-out singles to start off the Tigers’ dive-run seventh. Kreidler scored on an Ibanez double. And Canha brought home Vierling with a sacrifice fly.

Greene singled off Robert Garcia to score Ibanez. An Urshela walk preceded Malloy’s two-run double to left.
