Wenceel Perez drove in four runs, including a three-run triple, and the visiting Detroit Tigers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-3 on Saturday night.

Perez’s big hit highlighted a six-run seventh. Javier Baez had four hits, scored two runs and drove in another, while Gio Urshela supplied three hits and an RBI.

Jack Flaherty (1-3) gave up two runs in six innings while recording nine strikeouts for his first win as a Tiger.

Diamondbacks starter Zac Gallen (5-3) was charged with three runs in 6 2/3 innings while notching 10 strikeouts. Ketel Marte extended his hitting streak to 17 games with an RBI triple.

Corbin Carroll became the first Arizona baserunner when he led off the fourth with a triple. The Diamondbacks failed to bring him home as Flaherty struck out two of the next three batters.

Arizona broke through in the sixth. Kevin Newman reached on an infield single, Carroll hit into a fielder’s choice before Marte ripped a triple to left, knocking in Carroll. Joc Pederson brought home Marte with a single to make it 2-0.

Detroit erupted in the seventh with six runs.

Urshela led off the inning with another double. Gallen retired the next two batters but Baez smashed a double off the left-field wall, bringing in Urshela. Carson Kelly drove in Baez with a single to tie the contest.

Gallen was removed in favor of Joe Mantiply. Riley Greene then smacked a double to left as Kelly advanced to third. Mark Canha was intentionally walked to load the bases, but Perez foiled that strategy with his triple to left-center that cleared the bases.

Justin Martinez entered and walked Matt Vierling before Urshela had his second hit of the inning, an infield single that scored Perez.

Detroit added to its lead in the eighth. Spencer Torkelson and Baez had back-to-back singles off Kevin Ginkel. Kelly then hit a double to left to score Torkelson. Baez scored on Perez’s sacrifice fly to make it 8-2.

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. had an RBI single in the bottom of the inning.
