The Detroit Tigers activated second baseman Jonathan Schoop from the 10-day injured list on Tuesday.

Schoop has been sidelined since sustaining a sprained right ankle on Aug. 20. He went on the IL three days later.

Schoop, 30, is batting .202 with nine home runs and 34 RBIs in 115 games for the Tigers this season.

The 2017 All-Star has five 20-homer seasons in his career. He has a .256 career average with 172 home runs and 533 RBIs in 1,117 games over 10 seasons for the Baltimore Orioles (2013-18), Milwaukee Brewers (2018), Minnesota Twins (2019) and Tigers.

Detroit also recalled left-hander Joey Wentz from Triple-A Toledo and optioned right-hander Luis Castillo and infielder Josh Lester to Toledo.

Wentz, 24, went 0-1 with an 8.10 ERA in two starts with the Tigers earlier this season. He is 2-2 with a 3.17 ERA in 12 appearances (11 starts) for the Mud Hens this season.

Castillo, 27, pitched 3 2/3 scoreless innings in three appearances for Detroit. He is 5-1 with a 1.65 ERA in 42 appearances between Double-A and Triple-A this season.

Lester went 0-for-5 in two games for the Tigers. The 28-year-old is batting .243 with 25 homers and 83 RBIs in 126 games for Toledo.
