MLB News: Spring training roundup: Parker Meadows, Tigers overpower Braves

Outfielder Parker Meadows hit two homers among his three hits and drove in four runs and fellow outfielder Austin Meadows drove in three runs as the Detroit Tigers outslugged the host Atlanta Braves 16-7 in North Port, Fla.

Jake Holton and Roberto Campos each drove in two runs for the Tigers.

Ozzie Albies hit a three-run bomb for the Braves. Atlanta starter Charlie Morton pitched 2 2/3 scoreless innings, allowing one hit but walking three. He also struck out three.

Guardians 4, Athletics 2

Jose Ramirez and Mike Zunino launched two-run homers as Cleveland defeated Oakland in Goodyear, Ariz.

Kevin Smith and Lawrence Butler each had one of the Athletics’ three hits and scored one run apiece.

Cubs 5, Dodgers (ss) 2

Hayden Wesneski threw four perfect innings with four strikeouts and Chicago hit four home runs in defeating Los Angeles in Glendale, Ariz.

Noah Syndergaard also struck out four in 4 1/3 innings, allowing three hits and one run.

Padres 6, White Sox 5

Fernando Tatis Jr. finished with two hits and two RBIs as San Diego edged Chicago in Peoria, Ariz.

Jake Burger homered twice and drove in three runs for the White Sox.

Royals 12, Brewers 2

Matt Beaty doubled twice and drove in three runs, starter Kris Bubic pitched two scoreless innings and Aroldis Chapman struck out all three batters he faced as Kansas City routed Milwaukee in Phoenix.

Mike Brosseau hit a solo homer for the Brewers.

Mariners 4, Rockies 2

Cal Raleigh doubled, tripled and drove in a run and Chris Flexen struck out three in 3 1/3 innings as Seattle turned back Colorado near Scottsdale, Ariz.

Zac Veen singled in two runs and Elehuris had two of the Rockies’ 11 hits.

Angels 11, Diamondbacks 10

Anthony Rendon had a three-run homer among his three hits and the Angels hit three more long balls as Los Angeles outlasted Arizona in Tempe, Ariz.

Outfielder Dominic Canzone homered, doubled and drove in four runs, and Diego Castillo hit three doubles and scored three times for the Diamondbacks.

Rangers 8, Reds 7

Robbie Grossman and Adolis Garcia each had a home run, two hits and two RBIs as Texas edged Cincinnati in Surprise, Ariz.

Jake Fraley homered, doubled and drove in three runs for the Reds.

Dodgers (ss) 13, Giants 8

Steven Duggar drove in four runs with a homer and a double, and Luke Williams also went deep, tripled and collected three RBIs as Los Angeles beat San Francisco in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Blake Sabol homered and had three hits, scored three times and drove in two for the Giants.

Blue Jays 8, Orioles 6

George Springer homered and drove in three runs, Orelvis also went deep with two RBIs, and Santiago Espinal doubled, tripled and scored twice as Toronto defeated Baltimore in Dunedin, Fla.

Franchy Cordero had two doubles among his three hits, drove in two runs and scored a pair for the Orioles.

Phillies 6, Yankees (ss) 3

Edmundo Sosa had two hits and drove in a run and Philadelphia scored three in the eighth inning and knocked off New York in Tampa, Fla.

Jasson Dominguez hit a two-run homer for the Yankees.

Pirates 3, Yankees (ss) 0

Starter Johan Oviedo struck out three in three scoreless innings and Ke’Bryan Hayes and Bryan Reynolds homered as Pittsburgh blanked New York in Bradenton, Fla.

Lisandro Santos worked three scoreless innings for the Yankees, although he walked three, and Billy McKinney had two of New York’s five hits.

Twins 4, Red Sox 3

Ryan Jeffers homered and Cole Sands fanned four in 2 1/3 innings as Minnesota used a pair of two-run innings to overtake Boston in South Fort Myers, Fla.

Reese McGuire and David Hamilton each had two hits and an RBI for the Red Sox.

Astros 3, Cardinals 2

Shay Whitcomb’s sacrifice fly drove in the winning run in the bottom of the ninth as Houston defeated St. Louis in West Palm Beach, Fla.

Jack Flaherty pitched four innings for the Cardinals, allowing two runs and five hits with two strikeouts.

Marlins 5, Rays 3

Starter Trevor Rogers allowed two runs in going four innings and Miami scored five runs in the fifth inning in beating Tampa Bay in Jupiter, Fla.

Josh Lowe hit a two-run homer for the Rays, and starter Josh Fleming pitched three scoreless innings with two strikeouts.
