Jacob Wilson collected three of the Athletics’ 16 hits as the A’s routed a Kansas City Royals split squad 10-1 on Friday in Mesa, Ariz.

Brent Rooker and JJ Bleday each added two hits and a homer for the A’s, and Shea Langeliers also went deep. Max Muncy contributed a
two-run single.

A’s starter Luis Severino (1-2) went 5 1/3 innings, permitting a run on six hits and one walk. He struck out four.

Michael Massey and Tyler Tolbert each had two hits for the Royals. Kansas City starter Cole Ragans was tagged for eight runs on 11 hits in 4 2/3 innings. He walked one and fanned one.

Braves 7, Rays 3

Chris Sale fired four scoreless innings, striking out five, as Atlanta defeated Tampa Bay in Port Charlotte, Fla.

The Braves trailed 3-0 before scoring seven times in the top of the ninth inning. Matthew Batten tied the game with a two-run single, Geraldo Quintero hit a go-ahead single, and Cody Milligan added a two-run triple.

Rays starter Drew Rasmussen tossed 4 2/3 shutout innings. Pete Fairbanks got just one out in the ninth, as he was charged with five unearned runs.

Astros 5, Cardinals (ss) 3

Jeremy Pena went 3-for-3 with a home run as Houston downed a St. Louis split squad in Jupiter, Fla.

Chas McCormick opened the scoring with a three-run homer in the second inning for the Astros. Framber Valdez (2-0) fanned six while yielding three runs in five innings.

Ryan Vilade and Victor Scott II homered for the Cardinals. Sonny Gray (0-3) permitted five runs in 4 2/3 innings and has a spring ERA of 12.56.

Phillies (ss) 6, Twins 3

Edmundo Sosa’s two-run homer in the eighth inning broke a tie and lifted a Philadelphia split squad past Minnesota in Clearwater, Fla.

Josh Breaux went 2-for-4 with three RBIs for the Phillies. Max Kepler, Alec Bohm and Oscar Mercardo each added two hits, and Zack Wheeler pitched five innings of one-run ball.

Mike Ford homered and singled for the Twins. Minnesota starter Pablo Lopez delivered three scoreless innings.

Blue Jays 11, Phillies (ss) 7

George Springer and Andres Jimenez hit three-run homers for Toronto in a win over a Philadelphia split squad in Dunedin, Fla.

Alejandro Kirk and Addison Barger added solo shots for the Blue Jays. Toronto starter Jose Berrios (2-0) tossed 5 1/3 innings and gave up one run while striking out five.

Kyle Schwarber, Payton Henry and Erick Brito homered for the Phillies. Starter Joe Ross tossed two scoreless innings.

Mets 3, Cardinals (ss) 2

Clay Holmes struck out eight over 5 1/3 shutout innings as New York topped a St. Louis split squad in Port St. Lucie, Fla.

The Mets got all of their runs in the sixth inning, on an RBI double from Pete Alonso and a two-run homer from Brett Baty. Huascar Brazoban (1-0) delivered 1 2/3 scoreless innings.

Leonardo Bernal drove in the Cardinals’ runs with an eighth-inning homer. St. Louis starter Michael McGreevy blanked the Mets for five innings.

Angels (ss) 3, Rangers 3

Joswa Lugo’s two-run single in the bottom of the ninth inning lifted a Los Angeles split squad to a tie with Texas in Tempe, Ariz.

Angels starter Kyle Hendricks produced five innings of one-run ball, striking out five.

The Rangers got two hits from Jake Berger, while Nathan Eovaldi allowed one run in four innings.

White Sox 8, Reds (ss) 5

Bobby Dalbec went 3-for-4 to power Chicago, which overcame a 5-1 deficit to beat a Cincinnati split squad in Goodyear, Ariz.

Down 5-2 entering the top of the ninth inning, the White Sox produced a six-run rally that included a go-ahead two-run single from Caden Connor. Phil Fox pitched a perfect bottom of the ninth for the save.

Reds starter Brady Singer recorded 5 2/3 innings of two-run ball. Cincinnati’s Austin Hays hit a two-run homer and a single.

Giants 5, Guardians 4

Brett Wisely’s three-run eighth-inning homer carried San Francisco past Cleveland in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Matt Chapman also went deep for the Giants, who got seven strikeouts from Logan Webb across 5 2/3 innings of one-run ball.

Guardians starter Ben Lively went six innings and gave up two runs while fanning five. Gabriel Arias hit a two-run homer.

Padres 5, Cubs 1

Michael King and Randy Vasquez combined on a three-hitter as San Diego held down Chicago in Mesa, Ariz.

King (1-1) tossed five shutout innings and permitted just one hit. Vasquez gave up a run on two hits in four innings for the save. The Padres got homers from Tyler Wade (2-for-2) and Francisco Acuna.

Moises Ballesteros broke up San Diego’s shutout bid with a homer in the eighth. Cubs starter Cade Horton threw two scoreless innings.

Royals (ss) 8, Mariners (ss) 7

Salvador Perez socked a three-run homer to help a Kansas City split squad edge a Seattle split squad in Surprise, Ariz.

Perez, Jonathan India, Bobby Witt Jr., Maikel Garcia and Harold Castro each had two hits for the Royals. Michael Lorenzen allowed three runs in five innings.

The Mariners got homers from Randy Arozarena (3-for-3) and Dylan Moore (2-for-5). Miles Mastrobuoni added three hits and J.P. Crawford had two hits.

Rockies 4, Angels (ss) 3

Colorado pinch runner E.J. Andrews Jr. scored on a game-ending wild pitch as the Rockies nipped a Los Angeles split squad in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Rockies starter Antonio Senzatela struck out six while giving up two runs in 5 2/3 innings. Colorado’s Nolan Jones hit a two-run double

Angels starter Yusei Kikuchi tossed five innings of one-run ball. Kyren Paris collected two hits for Los Angeles.

Reds (ss) 5, Mariners (ss) 3

Ruben Ibarra belted a tiebreaking two-run homer in the seventh inning as a Cincinnati split squad downed a Seattle split squad in Peoria, Ariz.

Austin Wynns and Gavin Lux also homered for the Reds. Hunter Greene amassed seven strikeouts in five innings of three-run ball.

Logan Gilbert fanned seven for the Mariners while permitting three runs in 5 2/3 innings. Victor Robles paced the Seattle offense with three hits, including a home run.

Tigers (ss) 9, Orioles 1

Tarik Skubal struck out nine in six innings as a Detroit split squad blew out Baltimore in Sarasota, Fla.

Skubal (2-0) gave up one run on three hits and walked none. Zach McKinstry (2-for-3), Ryan Kreidler (2-for-3) and Josue Briceno hit home runs for the Tigers.

Orioles starter Albert Suarez allowed eight runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings. Gary Sanchez homered for Baltimore’s lone run.

Marlins 6, Nationals 0

Cal Quantrill threw four perfect innings, striking out five, as Miami blanked Washington in West Palm Beach, Fla.

After Quantrill (3-0) exited, Calvin Faucher took over and delivered two perfect innings. The perfect-game bid and no-hitter ended when CJ Abrams hit a leadoff single in the seventh against Sandy Martinez, who threw three innings, gave up only one more hit and earned the save.

Nationals starter Michael Soroka (1-2) was pounded for six runs on five hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Yankees 4, Tigers (ss) 0

Austin Wells homered twice and Carlos Rodon delivered 4 2/3 innings of three-hit ball as three New York pitchers combined to shut out a Detroit split squad in Lakeland, Fla.

Yoendrys Gomez followed Rodon (1-0) with 2 1/3 hitless innings, and Brent Headrick handled the last two innings. Wells finished 3-for-4 with four RBIs.

Tigers starter Keider Montero (0-1) limited the Yankees to one run on four hits in 4 1/3 innings.

Red Sox 2, Pirates 1

Rob Refsnyder capped a two-run eighth-inning rally with an RBI single as Boston eked out a win over Pittsburgh in Fort Myers, Fla.

Red Sox starter Garrett Crochet struck out nine and walked two while compiling 5 1/3 scoreless innings.

Pirates starter Mitch Keller fired three scoreless innings, fanning five. Will Taylor hit an RBI single in the ninth.

Diamondbacks 16, Brewers 5

Lourdes Gurriel Jr. and Ketel Marte each drove in four runs as Arizona pounded Milwaukee with an 18-hit attack in Phoenix.

Gurriel went 3-for-4 with a two-run homer, while Marte finished 4-for-4 and came within a home run of the cycle. Gabriel Moreno went deep for Arizona, which overcame a rough start by ace Corbin Burnes (2 2/3 innings, 11 hits, seven earned runs).

Milwaukee starter Freddy Peralta (1-2) endured an even tougher start, giving up 10 runs on eight hits over 3 1/3 innings. William Contreras led the Brewers’ offense, finishing 4-for-4 with two RBIs.
