Elier Hernandez hit a go-ahead, two-run double in the seventh inning as the host Texas Rangers spoiled Yoshinobu Yamamoto’s Los Angeles Dodgers debut with a 6-4 victory on Wednesday in Surprise, Ariz.

Yamamoto, who signed a 12-year, $325 million contract with Los Angeles this past offseason, allowed just one hit and struck out three across two innings. He exited a scoreless game, and the Dodgers later broke through thanks to Andy Pages’ two-run homer in the fifth.

With the score tied 3-3, Hernandez delivered, and he soon came around to score on a wild pitch by Elieser Hernandez (0-1), making it 6-3.

Ryan Ward had an RBI single in the eighth to draw Los Angeles within two, but that was the closest the Dodgers would get. Texas’ Austin Pruitt (1-0) gave up one run on one hit in one inning to record the win.

Orioles 12, Twins 3

Colton Cowser and Ramon Urias each homered and drove in three runs as Baltimore rolled to a victory over host Minnesota at Fort Myers, Fla.

Cowser, Urias, Cedric Mullins and Michael Perez all had two hits to pace Baltimore’s 17-hit attack. Urias hit a two-run homer in the second inning, Cowser slugged a three-run shot in the third and Perez delivered a two-run single in the seventh.

Dean Kremer (1-0) gave up one run and two hits in two innings for the Orioles. Pablo Lopez (0-1) gave up two runs and three hits in two innings for the Twins. Jake Rucker hit a slot blast for Minnesota.

Nationals 4, Red Sox 3

Joey Gallo hit a two-run, tiebreaking double in the fifth inning to help Washington slide past visiting Boston at Palm Beach, Fla.

Victor Robles and Jesse Winker had run-scoring singles earlier in the third before Gallo put the Nationals ahead with the two-bagger inside the first-base line.

Mark Kolozsvary had two hits and two RBIs for the Red Sox.

Mets 3, Cardinals 0

Pete Alonso and Trayce Thompson each belted solo shots as New York blanked visiting St. Louis at Port St. Lucie, Fla.

Seven Mets pitchers combined on a five-hitter and struck out seven batters.

Alec Burleson had two hits for the Cardinals, who were hitless in six at-bats with runners in scoring position.

Blue Jays 3, Rays 2

Rafael Lantigua hit a tiebreaking sacrifice fly in the seventh inning to help Toronto knock off visiting Tampa Bay at Dunedin, Fla.

Paolo Espino, Devereaux Harrison and Andrew Bash (1-0) all pitched two scoreless innings for the Blue Jays.

Ronny Simon’s sacrifice fly and Amed Rosario’s RBI double plated the Rays’ runs in the fifth inning.

Astros 6, Marlins 1

David Hensley stroked a two-run double to cap a four-run third inning to help visiting Houston defeat Miami at Jupiter, Fla.

Trey Cabbage and Dixon Machado joined Hensley in having two hits for the Astros.

Miami’s lone run crossed on Jhonny Pereda’s sacrifice fly in the ninth inning.

Tigers 5, Pirates 3

Bligh Madris, Anthony Bemboom and Wenceel Perez all homered to help Detroit dispatch host Pittsburgh at Bradenton, Fla.

Bemboom hit the tiebreaking homer with one out in the top of the eighth off Dauri Moreta (0-1) and Perez homered later in the inning.

Tsung-Che Cheng hit a two-run shot in the third inning and Connor Joe homered later in the frame for the Pirates’ runs.

Braves 7, Phillies 7

Bryson Horne hit a two-run homer in the ninth and Cody Milligan plated another with a groundout and Atlanta’s three-run outburst forged a tie with host Philadelphia at Clearwater, Fla.

Chadwick Tromp slugged a two-run blast and Michael Harris II hit a solo shot for the Braves, who had 10 hits.

J.T. Realmuto hit a solo blast and Alec Bohm stroked a two-run shot for the Phillies.

Padres 3, White Sox 1

Brett Sullivan cranked a two-run homer as visiting San Diego edged Chicago in Glendale, Ariz.

The White Sox led 1-0 after six innings thanks to Zach Remillard’s run-scoring sacrifice bunt, but Sullivan turned the game on its side with his shot to right in the seventh. Ethan Salas added a sacrifice fly in the ninth to complete the scoring.

Jhony Brito (1-0) got the win, allowing one run and one hit in three innings. He fanned three without issuing a walk.

Diamondbacks 8, Guardians 6

Caleb Roberts ignited a four-run ninth with a two-RBI triple and Arizona rallied past host Cleveland in Goodyear, Ariz.

Kevin Graham and Sheng-Ping Chen followed Roberts with run-scoring singles as the Diamondbacks overcame what was once a 6-3 deficit. Chen also had an RBI double in the eighth, and Lourdes Gurriel Jr. added a solo shot for Arizona.

Angel Martinez went 2-for-2 and Jose Ramirez hit an RBI double for the Guardians.

Athletics 7, Giants 4

Ryan Noda and Zack Gelof opened the bottom of the first with back-to-back home runs, setting the tone for Oakland in a victory over visiting San Francisco in Mesa, Ariz.

J.D. Davis halved the Giants’ 2-0 deficit with a solo shot in the second, but the Athletics opened up a 5-1 lead in the third thanks in large part to JJ Bleday’s two-run triple. Bleday later homered in the fifth.

Paul Blackburn (1-0) worked two innings for the win, only allowing Davis’ homer. Spencer Howard (0-1) was tagged with the loss.

Cubs 6, Brewers 1

Jordan Wicks scattered four hits across three scoreless innings as Chicago cruised past host Milwaukee in Phoenix.

Wicks (2-0) struck out two without surrendering a walk. Luis Vazquez had a two-run single for the Cubs.

Garrett Mitchell had two hits for the Brewers, whose only run came courtesy of William Contreras’ RBI double.

Royals 9, Mariners 7

Kyle Isbel and Ryan Fitzgerald each hit a three-run blast to headline visiting Kansas City’s comeback win against Seattle in Peoria, Ariz.

The Mariners were up 5-0 after Taylor Trammell’s run-scoring double in the fourth. Cal Raleigh had a three-run homer in the third to help Seattle build its early cushion.

But the Royals took over from there, with Fitzgerald’s long ball in the eighth providing the winning runs. Jonathan Bowlan (2-0) gave up two runs and five hits in 1 1/3 innings but still came away with a win.

Rockies 3, Angels 1

The last five Colorado relievers combined for six innings of shutout ball as the Rockies defeated visiting Los Angeles in Scottsdale, Ariz.

Carson Palmquist, Ty Blach, Justin Lawrence, Riley Pint and Angel Chivilli kept the Angels at bay, with each reliever giving up no more than one hit. Sean Bouchard had an RBI double and Ryan McMahon drove in a run with a single for the Rockies.

Taylor Ward singled to bring home Matt Thaiss in the second for Los Angeles’ lone run.
