Myles Straw and Tyler Heineman each had three RBIs, Chris Bassitt pitched seven effective innings Thursday and the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the visiting Philadelphia Phillies 9-1.

Toronto’s Bo Bichette hit a two-run homer in a two-hit game in the rubber match of the three-game series to extend his hit streak to nine games.

Alejandro Kirk had three hits for the Blue Jays, who have won seven of eight.

Bassitt (6-3) allowed one run, five hits and two walks with six strikeouts and is 5-0 in his career against Philadelphia.

Nick Castellanos had three hits for the Phillies, who have lost six of seven.

Toronto scored four in the second inning against Jesus Luzardo (5-2), taking advantage of fastballs in the middle of the plate. Davis Schneider singled to left and scored when Straw lined a double to the gap in right-center field. Heineman stroked an RBI double to left and Bichette homered to center.

The Blue Jays added four in the third. Kirk singled and Ernie Clement scooped a low changeup for a double to left center. Schneider walked and Straw hit a two-run single and later stole second. Jonatan Clase walked. Two runs scored when Heineman was given a single after shortstop Trea Turner, who had his back to the infield, dropped his popup in shallow left.

Right-hander Max Lazar replaced Luzardo, who allowed eight runs, nine hits and two walks with two strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings. It was Luzardo’s second successive poor start. In his previous outing, the left-hander allowed 12 runs in 3 1/3 innings in a home loss to the Milwaukee Brewers.

Turner doubled and Kyle Schwarber singled to put the Phillies on the board in the sixth.

George Springer doubled and scored on Kirk’s single in the home sixth against Seth Johnson.

Phillies outfielder Weston Wilson pitched around a single in the eighth.

Toronto’s Vladimir Guerrero Jr. was 0-for-5 to end his 34-game on-base streak.

Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto, who left in the ninth inning on Wednesday after a foul ball hit him in the groin area, did not start on Thursday Realmuto said he hoped he would only miss one game.
