Perhaps help is on the way for the light-hitting Mets, who recalled third baseman Mark Vientos from Triple-A Syracuse on Wednesday.

Vientos, a second-round pick in the 2017 draft, is hitting .333 with 13 home runs and 37 RBIs in 38 games. The Mets have 44 home runs this season, which ranks ninth in the National League.

Vientos, 23, debuted with the Mets last season and had one home run in 16 games as a September call-up. He has 40 home runs in 150 career games at Triple-A, the type of thunder the New York offense has lacked to start the 2023 season.

The Mets hit three home runs Tuesday in an 8-5 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays to break a 56-inning streak without a home run. First baseman Pete Alonso is tied for the MLB lead with 14 home runs, but the Mets are 13th in the National League in slugging percentage (.382).

Vientos is the No. 7 prospect in the Mets’ system according to MLB Pipeline. He played left field in spring training and is an option at designated hitter.

He joins rookie third baseman Brett Baty, who has three home runs in 24 games since being promoted from Syracuse, in the Mets’ youth movement. Baty was a first-round pick in 2019.
