Riley Greene hit a pair of three-run home runs, Jake Rogers and Spencer Torkelson also went deep and the visiting Detroit Tigers routed the Washington Nationals 11-2 Wednesday in the opener of a day-night doubleheader.

Greene has homered in three straight games and has 21 on the season.

Zach McKinstry had four hits and Colt Keith added three for Detroit, which has won four of five.

Detroit’s Dylan Smith (1-0) pitched 3 1/3 scoreless innings on two hits for the win. Opener Tyler Holton pitched two scoreless innings.

Alex Call had three hits for Washington, which went 2-for-11 with runners in scoring position.

Trevor Williams (3-10) gave up seven runs on nine hits over three innings as his ERA rose to 6.21. Washington prospect Andry Lara, 22, retired nine of the 10 batters he faced in his major league debut.

Infielder Paul DeJong, in his first game with Washington since being hit in the face by a pitch on April 15, went 0-for-1 with a walk.

The Tigers exploded for six runs on seven hits against Williams in the first.

Keith led off with a double and Gleyber Torres walked. After Wenceel Perez flied out, Greene homered on a 3-2 pitch to make it 3-0. Torkelson followed with a single and McKinstry doubled. Parker Meadows struck out, but Rogers followed with Detroit’s second three-run homer of the inning.

Trey Sweeney’s sacrifice fly made it 7-0 in the third. In the fourth, Torres walked leading off against Jackson Rutledge, Perez singled and Greene homered to center, increasing the lead to 10-0.

Washington got on the board in the fifth. CJ Abrams singled and went to second on an error before scoring on a single by James Wood.

Torkelson homered leading off the sixth to make it 10-1.

In the Washington sixth, Call led off with a single and later scored when Josh Bell drew a bases-loaded walk.
