The Boston Red Sox and third baseman Rafael Devers agreed to a one-year, $17.5 million deal to avoid arbitration, multiple outlets reported Tuesday.
The two sides are still discussing a long-term extension for the two-time All-Star, who batted .295 with 27 homers and 88 RBIs in 141 games in 2022.
Devers, 26, is not eligible for free agency until 2024.
He is a career .283/.342/.512 hitter with 139 home runs and 455 RBIs in 689 games over six seasons with Boston.
Devers won a World Series in 2018, led the American League with 54 doubles in 2019 and made the All-Star team in 2021 and 2022.
