Veteran infielder Rougned Odor is joining the San Diego Padres on a minor-league deal, multiple outlets reported Wednesday.
He was invited to spring training, and MLB.com reported he was already in the San Diego clubhouse on Wednesday. The deal is pending a physical. Terms haven’t been released.
Odor, if he makes the team, would bring a left-handed bat off the bench.
Odor, 29, spent the first seven seasons of his career (2014-20) with the Texas Rangers, followed by a season each with the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles.
He was the starting shortstop for the Orioles last season and batted .207. He had 88 hits — 13 of them homers — and 53 RBIs in 135 games.
Odor has batted .231 with 174 home runs and 550 RBIs in 1,095 career games. He is 98 hits short of 1,000 in the majors.
