The Arizona Diamondbacks have agreed to a one-year deal with veteran third baseman Evan Longoria, according to multiple reports on Friday.
Longoria reportedly will receive $4 million in base salary with the ability to earn another $1 million in incentives.
Longoria, 37, became a free agent when the San Francisco Giants declined his $13 million option for 2023. He was paid a $5 million buyout.
Longoria, a three-time All-Star, batted just .244 with 14 homers and 42 RBIs in 89 games in 2022, his fifth season with the Giants.
Injuries have limited Longoria to just 170 games over the past two seasons.
Overall, he has a .265 average with 331 homers and 1,131 RBIs in 1,912 career games. He was American League Rookie of the Year in 2008 with the Tampa Bay Rays, with whom he played until 2017 before being traded to the Giants.
