Adolis Garcia ripped a two-out single to score pinch runner Evan Carter with the winning run in the bottom of the 11th inning, lifting the Texas Rangers to a 5-4 victory over the reeling White Sox on Saturday in Arlington, Texas.

The Rangers captured their third straight win, their sixth in their last seven outings and guaranteed a third consecutive series victory. Chicago, conversely, has dropped four straight and suffered its second straight lost series.

Garcia’s hit off of Tyler Alexander (3-7) came after Texas wasted a bases-loaded opportunity with one out in the 10th and made a winner out of Jacob Latz (1-0), its sixth pitcher of the game.

Jacob deGrom started for the Rangers and surrendered two runs on five hits and no walks over six innings while striking out six. The no-decision snapped a two-game winning streak for the former two-time Cy Young Award winner, but was the 11th consecutive outing he has allowed two or fewer runs.

The White Sox struck first as Kyle Teel’s one-out sacrifice fly in the fourth drove home Chase Meidroth from third base. Luis Robert Jr. then singled to plate Miguel Vargas and expand Chicago’s advantage to 2-0.

Texas swung back in the fifth off reliever Brandon Eisert. Josh Smith doubled to right field to lead off the frame and moved to third on a flyout by Wyatt Langford. Smith strolled home on a double to right field by Corey Seager and cut the Rangers’ deficit to 2-1.

Marcus Semien’s double in the seventh drove home Langford and tied the game. Seager then scored the lead run from third base when White Sox reliever Grant Taylor uncorked a wild pitch.

Chicago tied the game in the eighth when Mike Tauchman’s one-out single off Hoby Milner scored pinch runner Brooks Baldwin from second base. Texas took the lead in the bottom of the eighth when Smith, who had doubled with two outs, raced home on a throwing error by Meidroth.

But the White Sox responded in ninth, tying the game when Michael A. Taylor doubled in Teel with two outs off reliever Robert Garcia.

Chicago sent seven pitchers to the mound in a bullpen game. Mike Vasil started and went four scoreless innings in which he allowed two hits, walked four and struck out four.
