Kyle Schwarber hit a pair of two-run homers and Alec Bohm launched a three-run shot among his three hits to lift the host Philadelphia Phillies past the San Diego Padres 9-2 on Monday.

Rafael Marchan added four hits and two RBIs for the Phillies, who hammered out 18 hits. Bryce Harper, Nick Castellanos, Trea Turner and Brandon Marsh had two hits each.

Philadelphia starter Cristopher Sanchez (4-3) tossed seven innings and gave up six hits and two runs (one earned) with five strikeouts and one walk.
Manny Machado had two hits for struggling San Diego, which has dropped four in a row.

Padres starter Randy Vasquez (1-4) allowed 12 hits and six runs with two strikeouts and two walks in 4 1/3 innings.

Schwarber blasted a two-run home run 441 feet to left-center field for a 2-0 Phillies lead in the bottom of the third. Marchan blooped an RBI single in the fourth for a 3-0 advantage.

Machado opened the fifth with a single and advanced to second on Marsh’s error in center field. He moved to third on a flyout to center and scored on Jake Cronenworth’s groundout to close San Diego within 3-1.

Bohm’s blast to left in the bottom of the fifth opened up a 6-1 lead before Schwarber crushed his second two-run shot an inning later to make it 8-1.

Donovan Solano hit an RBI double in the seventh to pull the Padres within 8-2. Marchan answered for Philadelphia in the bottom of the frame with a check-swing RBI single that made it 9-2.

Castellanos snapped an 0-for-17 slump with a double in the second inning, but he missed out on an RBI as Bohm was thrown out at the plate by center fielder Jackson Merrill.

Ha-Seong Kim was thrown out by Marchan trying to steal second base for the third out in the top of the third.

The Phillies turned three double plays in the first four innings.
