Washington Nationals right-handed reliever Derek Law was placed on the 15-day injured list on Saturday with a right elbow flexor strain.

The Nationals also placed left-handed reliever Robert Garcia on the bereavement list. In corresponding moves, Washington promoted left-handed reliever Joe La Sorsa and right-handed reliever Joan Adon from Triple-A Rochester.

Law, 33, is 7-2 in 61 relief appearances with a 2.85 ERA over 75 2/3 innings this season, his first with Washington. San Francisco’s 2011 ninth-round pick has pitched for the Giants (2016-18), Toronto Blue Jays (2019), Minnesota Twins (2021), Detroit Tigers (2022), Cincinnati Reds (2022-23) and Nationals. He is 23-16 with 13 saves and a 3.80 ERA in 308 games (seven starts).

Garcia, 28, is 2-4 with a 4.80 ERA in 56 relief appearances this season. A 15th-round pick of the Kansas City Royals in the 2017 draft, he’s 4-6 with a 4.32 ERA in 81 relief appearances with the Miami Marlins (2023) and Nationals (2023-present).

La Sorsa, 26, was an 18th-round pick of the Tampa Bay Rays in the 2019 draft and is 1-0 with a 4.41 ERA in 25 relief appearances with the Rays (2023) and Nationals (2023-present). He has yet to pitch in the majors this season.

Adon, 26, signed with the Nationals as an amateur free agent in 2016 and is 3-16 with a 6.65 ERA in 33 games (26 starts) since debuting in 2021. He is 0-0 with a 6.48 ERA this season in six games (one start).
