Jose Tena had two hits, including a homer, and scored twice, and Joey Gallo and Juan Yepez also hit home runs to lead the host Washington Nationals to a 4-1 victory over the Miami Marlins on Saturday afternoon.
It marked the seventh time this season that Washington (67-81) hit three or more home runs in a game. Keibert Ruiz added a double and two hits for the Nationals, who improved to 10-2 against Miami this season with their second consecutive win.
Patrick Corbin (6-13) continued his strong finish to the season by picking up his fourth victory in his past five starts, allowing one run on three hits over six innings. He walked one and struck out six. Kyle Finnegan pitched a scoreless ninth to garner his 38th save.
Otto Lopez went 2-for-3 with a walk and an RBI, and Jonah Bride had two hits, including a double, and scored a run for Miami (55-94), which lost for the fifth time in its past six games. Valente Bellozo (2-4) suffered the loss, allowing three runs on six hits over 5 1/3 innings. He walked one and struck out four.
Miami took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Bride led off with a double into the gap in right-center, advanced to third on a groundout by Jesus Sanchez and scored on Lopez’s single to left.
Washington tied it, 1-1, in the bottom of the second on Gallo’s seventh home run of the season, a 401-foot drive deep into the seats in right.
The Nationals took a 2-1 lead in the fourth when Tena led off with an infield single, stole second and then scored on a single by Ruiz.
Tena made it 3-1 in the sixth when he belted his third home run of the year, a 412-foot drive to right-center.
Yepez extended Washington’s lead to 4-1 in the eighth with his sixth homer into the bullpen in left off reliever George Soriano.
